ABSTRACT
This roundtable is a reflection on gender in global photography, building on the other chapters in the section. The intention is to demonstrate a strong commitment to the future without being definitive. Dunster, Chew-Melendez, Goñi Bacugalupi, Nagel, Lalloz and Niedermaier all aimed to provide an extensive overview on visual contemporary works related to gender and tried to show the broad umbrella of the different gender issues that surround us. For this, we held a roundtable discussion with all the section contributors along with a survey based on a set of shared questions. We all agreed that art triggers the questions that hold meaning and that visual art embraces the sensitive, intelligible, appreciative and normative components of its time.
