ABSTRACT
This roundtable surveys a variety of independently established projects in Latin America and introduces their contexts and methods within their specific communities. Examining the importance of creative process and experimentation at the level of collaborative project formation and photographic method, the discussion highlights the value of artisanal intelligence and the need for critical positionalities negotiating the local and global in critical relation. The hybrid nature of the present and future, which necessitates the combining of physical and virtual experiences, offers both a model and critical starting point for forms of collaboration which stress the importance of the body's experience alongside an understanding of creative methodologies informing by media. The conversation emphasizes the need for an approach to photography and the image that continually challenges and questions traditional standards.
