ABSTRACT
The Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities (Advancing Enforcement) Amendment Bill 2024 seeks to amend the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 to clarify and strengthen its two main enforcement mechanisms, the first of which relates to the rights-compatibility of legislation, and the second to the obligations of public authorities. This Bill complements the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities (Advancing Equality) Amendment Bill 2024 outlined in Chapter 5, which broadens and strengthens the rights guaranteed under the Charter.
