ABSTRACT
New technology and the global pandemic revolutionised flexible work opportunities, including working from home. These changes benefited women, their families and those who support them. To further enshrine flexible work opportunities, the right to request flexible work in the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) should be enhanced. However, flexible work runs the risk of employees working longer hours, because technology always connects them to work. Therefore, a right to disconnect from work is needed. This chapter proposes a Bill to advance flexible work in the Fair Work Act and provide a new supporting right – the right to disconnect from work.
