ABSTRACT
In the Japanese judiciary (Saibansho), the Supreme Court is the highest judicial authority, overseeing constitutional matters and the rule of law. Lower, High, District, Family, and Summary Courts handle civil, criminal, and administrative cases. The High Court is the most senior among the lower courts. If a person is dissatisfied with the court’s decision, they can appeal to the higher court twice.
