ABSTRACT

Ludwig Museum participated in the AMASS research as the largest contemporary art collection in Hungary. As part of the programme, museum educators worked with primary and secondary school groups over the two school terms to develop activities that other professionals could deliver.

The school and museum sessions for children with special educational needs, social disadvantages and integration difficulties helped them to process their emotions and conflicts and to understand the world around them beyond the artefacts.

The museum's more than 25 years of methodological experience was shared through a nationally advertised teacher training course and made available in a methodological publication. In addition to linking the museum's programme with the history and literature curriculum in schools, the museum has successfully promoted independent opinion-making, creative work and self-expression and improved participants' self-confidence and attitude towards contemporary art.
