ABSTRACT

A wellbeing angle has emerged as an important new frontier to advance the understanding of the causes and consequences of migration. The purpose of this chapter is to provide an overview of the key findings from the literature on the relationship between migration policy and subjective wellbeing. It will help elicit the lessons learned and actionable points for policy-makers and anyone interested in evidence on what migration policies benefit subjective wellbeing. The chapter covers international migration from a global perspective and considers the outcomes of migrants, hosting communities, and people left behind in the origin country.
