ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the local wisdom of the Sundanese in Indonesia as a foundation pedagogy of peace. It describes the configuration of the Sundanese local wisdom values that intersect with the values of peace. The community in this study is the Sundanese, which anthropologically means people who have used the Sundanese language for generations in their daily lives. Formulating the implications of the values of peace and their inheritance strategies for peace pedagogies and peace education curricula were the goals of this research. The researchers conducted a meta-ethnographic study to identify and analyze indigenous approaches to instruct peace with local wisdom from 15 ethnopedagogical research reports. The results showed that etymologically and historically, the meaning of Sundanese instruction was in line with the ontology of peace; the core values of the Sundanese were constructed through the harmonious relations between intrapersonal, interpersonal, and transcendental dimensions as total peace. Sundanese local wisdom can be positioned as content and a strategy for implementing a pedagogy of peace and peace education curricula.
