ABSTRACT

The evolution of robots is perceived to improve economies’ efficiency at one hand and dislocates humans from jobs on the other hand. The displacement of human jobs in Tanzania, where a large proportion of the national labour force is employed in agriculture whose tasks are manual, is evident. This chapter uses a semi-structured review and content analysis to highlight prospects of deploying robots in Tanzania’s farming communities and identifies prerequisite steps to benefit from the technology. The results revealed that Tanzania will face agricultural automation, although in a gradual process. It is recommended that the national lower-level education systems equip students with cognitive and digital skills to be absorbed in the hospitality industry upon graduation.
