ABSTRACT

In this final chapter, we start by observing the importance of building a multidirectional approach to mentoring. We then discuss two key themes that were consistently raised by the authors that amplify important aspects of supporting Black women across all institutional contexts. We then offer observations about our own institutional context as a “case example” of efforts to build an academic community that reflects the growing diversity of the nation in the professoriate, engaged research on issues impacting diverse communities, and programmatic and research commitments that address systemic racism and other forms of discrimination.
