ABSTRACT

As a leader of school-based teacher collaboration in my school, I work with other teachers to explore how culturally responsive and sustaining education can inform what we have learned during the pandemic to improve our practice. My focus is to take advantage of the chaotic disruption as an opportunity to rebuild. Thus, I explore the questions: What do teachers learn about testing a flipped classroom approach during a pandemic? How do I modify the flipped classroom approach for my students in my classroom? In addition to teacher collaboration, this chapter also looks at the changes I have made in my instruction as a result of the pandemic, and why I think these improvements are significant. Reflection on these changes supports my assertion that culturally responsive and sustaining practices provide the foundation for addressing the needs described in this study.
