ABSTRACT

This chapter proposes that the world of design and design research opens further and connects better to support good projects by intensifying their collaboration with experts, whether scientist, politician or resident. By engaging everyone with an interest in the outcome of these transformation processes and empowering them to be active and positive participants, it is possible to showcase what co-design can do and how it can drive positive change. Design festivals bring together a diversity of curious people through exhibitions and exchange programmes. Dutch Design Week (DDW) in the small town of Eindhoven is one such festival which is not the best of the world, as a journalist once said, but strives to be one of the best for the world. DDW is a testing ground for possible concepts and scenarios that might contribute to reducing negative impact and increasing the good actions, leading the flourishing of the world.
