ABSTRACT
This short introduction discusses what is meant by methods and methodologies and explores and defines intersectionality, especially noting the influence of Patricia Hill Collins and Sirma Bilge on the editorial principles underpinning this volume. There is an explanation of how the book is structured to optimise cross-fertilisation between the social sciences and humanities, and we note how there is already on show in our authors’ chapters good examples of how one field borrows from another. Finally, the introduction offers a summary of the chapters.
