ABSTRACT
The Rudolf Steiner schools in Switzerland must be understood against the background of the Swiss school system and the financing of education. Compared to other countries, Steiner schools are hardly visible to the public, and even the controversies surrounding Rudolf Steiner are only marginally noticed. The article shows how the schools position themselves in this environment and in the absence of growth, and offer their speciality in the private school market. Satisfaction with the public elementary school is high, and this limits the development of Steiner schools. A key question is how far they can still follow anthroposophy.
