ABSTRACT

On an international level, it is becoming increasingly clear that tourism is more than travel and consumption and can be perceived as another way of learning and self-improvement, as well as developing a common code of communication that appreciates the special characteristics of each distinct culture.

The aim of this chapter is to highlight the latest results of the methodological approach developed within the framework of Worth-living Integrated Development, in the pilot project, “Aoos, the Shared River”. In particular, it presents the innovative approaches of the Integrated Performances, used to record, analyse, synthesize and visualize the physical and socio-economic reality of the region. At the same time, it describes the first actions for the development of cultural tourism in the study area resulting from the analysis of the data, in collaboration with organizations and citizens who participated in the phase of implementation of the project’s methodological approach.

The above synthesis of the theory and methodology of Worth-living Integrated Development with state-of-the-art technologies offers to local communities a way to imagine, plan and implement evidence-based policies and actions for the development of their region.
