ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the development of a virtual population model provides an agent-based predictive analysis to simulate dynamically how the town population, resident segments, and household composition will evolve with time. The model can be used to anticipate emerging needs and critical turning points.
These urban analytics tools and processes had been incorporated in a visualisation platform, City Application Visualisation Interface (CAVI) by EDF Singapore Lab, that enables planners and designers to make comparisons between towns, neighbourhoods, and resident segments, to analyse proximity, accessibility, and centrality of amenities and spaces, and to simulate emerging needs and opportunities for future community design.
