ABSTRACT

Institutional calls underline the crucial role of the private sector in the implementation of the sustainable development agenda; in particular, the role of firms in the social and solidarity economy. In this contribution, we analyze how cooperatives in the Mondragon Corporation deal with the implementation of the sustainable development agenda. To that end, we will draw on in-depth interviews and focus groups conducted between 2019 and 2022. We aim to inform the implementation process of the sustainable development agenda in firms of the social and solidarity economy by better understanding the motivations, enablers, and barriers of implementing the sustainable development agenda in the case of Mondragon cooperatives.
