ABSTRACT
Primary production has been employed by people since the Neolithic agricultural revolution. In the era of bioeconomy, however, the need for sustainable production has begun to be emphasised. Nowadays, a more holistic approach is needed to describe a principle of primary production in the era of the ‘post-industrial’ bioeconomy. The concept of Eco-Land Farming presents the defining principles and prospects for a new ecological approach based on the pathway from farm to landscape. The new approach includes methods which strongly enhance integration among components of crop and animal production, and the adoption of a Life Cycle Assessment analysis as a new tool which is required for the assessment of the impact of selected types of production on the environment.
