ABSTRACT
Gonçalo Ribeiro Telles passed away on 11th November 2020. Numerous testimonies were then published on his role to the enhancement and protection of landscape in Portugal.
This chapter, as a contribution to outlining his legacy, presents two complementary perspectives. On the one hand, an overview of his multifaceted life is presented, supported by a graphic representation shaped as a biographical tree. This tool relates facts at a glance, providing multiple readings about his work and the context in which he was engaged. On the other hand, an analysis of 140 texts focused on identifying the words used to characterize him. Both perspectives confirm his many-sided character. He is recalled both as a landscape architect, a tireless advocate of ecological practices, and a master in Landscape Architecture training and in eco awareness raising. He is also evoked as the politician behind the country’s land-planning legal framework, orientated towards a cultural landscape, interconnecting rural and urban in a system of continuities.
