ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with the need to develop digital skills in the public sector. To this end, our understanding of the term “digital skills” will firstly be outlined. Then, the European (and the German) competence framework will be examined. After a look at other countries and an outline of the different sub-aspects of “digital skills”, the German projects and institutions that deal with determining digital skills for the civil service will be presented. Finally, a conclusion will be drawn.
