ABSTRACT
The chapter provides an overview of the basic rules and principles governing international maritime delimitation and offers a picture of the relevant coastal State practice in the Mediterranean Sea. Exploring recent developments related to maritime disputes, delimitation agreements among Mediterranean coastal States and maritime disputed areas, the contribution aims at pointing out the indispensable role played by the law of the sea in promoting stable and peaceful relations in the Mediterranean region.
