Conclusion

This concluding chapter recaps the main findings of the individual chapters against the background of the analytical framework of this edited volume. The chapter highlights similarities and differences, along with broader trends within the parliamentary dimension of the Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFoE). We address the CoFoE from the “host” and “guest” angles separately, examining the scope and types of parliamentary engagement and activities during the CoFoE and its follow-up. We then combine the two dimensions and evaluate inter-parliamentary collaboration throughout the CoFoE proceedings. We end with reflections on how our findings bear on the integration of participatory and representative democracy within the EU, highlighting avenues for future research.
