ABSTRACT
Over time, Technologies education has been shaped by the intricate relationships between its philosophical foundations, theoretical concepts, and pedagogical practices. It has also been informed by the interrelationship between technology, society, and culture. It is therefore essential for students to know how technologies are influencing their worlds and empowering them to contribute to and shape these new realities. Equally important is for educators to understand the purpose and origins of Technologies education, enabling them to harness technology and design to enrich student learning and enhance their teaching practices. Part of this involves grasping the contributions of philosophers and social theorists. Connecting these theoretical and philosophical insights with the ‘signature pedagogies’ in Technologies education brings these concepts to life, demonstrating their practical application in contemporary educational settings.
