ABSTRACT

This chapter describes a drama workshop using imaginative storytelling and exploratory thinking for alternative futures. In this activity, students are introduced to a story, narrated by the teacher, which locates the participants in a fictitious attic. The participants are encouraged to search through paper snow (‘Papperssnö’) to find a solution to the climate emergency. They discover that this is an impossible task, there is no one single solution, but that hope can be found in small, collective acts of behavioural change. This chapter then moves to reflect on the impact of climate anxiety on emotional well-being and offers suggestions for navigating these concerns through the activity.
