ABSTRACT

This chapter describes a workshop conducted for fellow educators to support them in understanding the practice and application of forum play through performance and rehearsal. The workshop was held for a group of lecturers and researchers who operate within the context of communication studies. It used the concept of greenwashing as a case study and was eventually adopted in one of the main courses offered by the department that partially integrated environmental issues into its syllabus. The workshop aimed to showcase to its participants the value of using interactive, socially cognisant, and solutions-focused tools contained within Forum Theatre to trigger innovative, creative, critical thinking and problem-solving approaches while enabling the possibility to envision alternative futures within a classroom. As such, it is a capacity-building exercise to support teaching and learning practice.
