ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the cocreation of a digital remote care service ecosystem through the lens of service ecosystem design. The study embraces an ecosystem perspective at a micro level. We aim to bridge theory and practice, providing a concrete application of service ecosystem design through an in-depth investigation of an empirical case study on the implementation of digital technologies for remote care and postoperative rehabilitation of thoracic surgery patients in China. By contextualizing the micro-level service ecosystem design process within the case study, the goal is to examine the complex dynamics of digital remote care and facilitate the cocreation of meaningful and innovative services in this evolving landscape. We discuss the potential limitations arising from our mixed-methods approach and offer practical implications for cocreating digital remote care service ecosystems.
