ABSTRACT
At a time of general labour shortages in European countries, a significant proportion of Ukrainian workers were already working in the V4 countries before the war broke out. Humanitarian considerations in the aftermath of the crisis were only one aspect of thinking about refugees from Ukraine. The arrival of displaced persons in host countries has helped to fill labour shortages in many areas of the labour market and to improve economic performance. However, the skill level of the new arrivals is significantly higher than the labour demand in the V4 countries. This structural difference poses a major challenge for the labour market integration of displaced persons. This study examines the needs of displaced Ukrainian workers that can facilitate their long-term and effective integration into the labour markets of host countries, as well as good practices that can ensure the integration of highly skilled workers into the labour markets of host countries.
