ABSTRACT
This chapter begins with a narrative framing of the work of Kenyan Ondiege Matthew and his company Dance Into Space (DIS), developed by an interview with Matthew. The reflective discussion that follows offers an embodied reflection on three interconnected strands of DIS’s working in integrated dance practices: firstly, the crossings of urban and rural geographical Kenya in Ondiege’s dance work that facilitates a multifaceted relationship between dance, disability, citizenship and the politics of space and place. Secondly, his three-tiered process of training, working and generating performances that speak to a deeply articulated sense of community. Thirdly, and finally, bringing all the strands together, there is an engagement with the idea of ‘body possibilities’.
