ABSTRACT
Pope Francis uses contemplation as a category of Catholic Social Thought. With contemplation as lens, I argue for a sacramental worldview as an alternative to ecocentrism. Contemplation at work means seeing God in work and looking at work in the world with the eyes of God. It means discovering work as contemplation. This implies understanding work as “cosmic liturgy” which all men and women perform as priestly co-workers with God. We are cooperators of God as royal priests and prophets when we respect the teleology of creation as expressed in natural and moral laws. Part of this original mission in work is to cleanse the world of sin which we can only do united with the Paschal Mystery of Christ made present in the Eucharist.
