ABSTRACT

The United Nations Summit of the Future, held in September 2024, brought together world leaders to discuss global governance reforms aimed at addressing current and future challenges. The Summit was convened by the United Nations Secretary-General following the 2021 Our Common Agenda report. It resulted in an action-oriented outcome document called the Pact for the Future, which includes the Declaration on Future Generations and the Global Digital Compact. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) played a central role during the Summit, which focused on both accelerating the implementation of the SDGs until 2030 and strengthening global sustainability governance beyond 2030.
