ABSTRACT
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was formed to help eradicate poverty, foster democratic governance, uphold the rule of law and create inclusive institutions. With regard to sustainable development, UNDP developed a structured framework consisting of three core directions, six priority solutions and three enablers. These three key enablers – strategic innovation, digitalization, and development financing – serve as key strategies to maximize development impact both for country partners and within UNDP itself to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, UNDP faces ongoing challenges, such as data limitations and difficulties in securing adequate funding. This entry offers a brief overview of UNDP's crucial role in supporting SDG implementation, the obstacles it encounters and potential strategies for moving forward.
