ABSTRACT
The concept of justice is a critical component in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Over time, various types of justice have emerged, such as environmental, ecological, climate, energy, food, water and planetary justice. These types address different dimensions of justice such as distributional justice (fair distribution of burdens and benefits), procedural justice (fairness of how decisions are made and by whom), recognitional justice (recognition and respect of different historical or cultural identity of a particular group), intergenerational justice (fairness and moral obligations between different generations) and relational justice (fairness and quality of relationships between individuals and groups). Despite the diverse perspectives, current justice theories often originate from the Global North, raising concerns about colonial and exclusionary biases. Collaboration with communities of practice is essential to develop more inclusive definitions and approaches. Although complete justice may never be achieved, efforts can reduce injustice significantly.
