ABSTRACT

The term ‘Anthropocene’, introduced by Paul Crutzen and Eugene F. Stoermer, signifies a new geological epoch dominated by human activity. Despite ongoing debates about its precise starting point, the scientific community broadly agrees on the Anthropocene's existence. This epoch is marked by humans becoming the leading geological force through natural and cultural evolution. The Anthropocene extends beyond geology, involving human cognition and culture. Consequently, social and human sciences are essential in defining and addressing its implications. Education plays a crucial role in popularizing the concept, raising awareness and fostering collective action for better planetary stewardship and sustainable development.
