ABSTRACT

The Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development were developed independently, resulting in fragmented efforts to tackle climate change and promote sustainable development. We highlight the need to reconcile both agendas to foster synergies and minimize trade-offs. While initiatives to mitigate and adapt to climate change can help promote sustainable development, such actions might also undermine progress in certain sectors. Key challenges remain in aligning policy frameworks and facilitating investment towards climate actions and sustainable development. Understanding the interlinkages between the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals is crucial for developing integrated strategies that enhance both climate resilience and sustainable development.
