ABSTRACT
The Major Groups and other Stakeholders (MGoS) is the central mechanism for non-state actors to participate in the follow-up and review process of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) implementation at the global level. Created in 1992 in the aftermath of the Earth Summit, MGoS provide a channel for different societal sectors to advocate for the interests of their constituencies in the global governance of sustainable development. While MGoS participation in global policy processes on sustainable development has been extensive, there is much room for improvement to make the MGoS system more inclusive and effective, so as to increase accountability within the follow-up and review process of SDG implementation at the global level.
