ABSTRACT
Nexus governance offers an integrated approach to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by addressing interconnections between the different sectors and issue areas underlying the goals. It seeks to enhance system efficiency, focusing on synergies and minimizing trade-offs to accelerate sustainability transformations. The 2030 Agenda explicitly emphasizes the indivisibility of the SDGs and their respective targets, making nexus governance relevant for SDG implementation. Despite its theoretical appeal, practical examples remain limited, with governance institutions often maintaining sectoral fragmentation. This highlights the need for more empirical research and stronger science-policy collaboration to realize the potential of nexus governance in advancing the SDGs.
