ABSTRACT
The domestic implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is a complex task that requires policy integration and coherence to ensure progress across economic, social and environmental dimensions. While often used interchangeably, policy coherence focuses on preventing conflicting objectives, whereas policy integration involves coordinating actors and institutions for more comprehensive governance. Integration and coherence can be among different goals but also concerning the SDGs and existing domestic policy structures. Policy integration and coherence are critical for achieving the SDGs, but challenges, such as sectoral conflicts and governance capacity, can hinder their success.
