ABSTRACT
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development recognizes gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls as essential for achieving human rights and sustainable development. Gender mainstreaming, a strategic process for promoting equality, aims to integrate gender perspectives into all policies and actions across the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). While progress has been made in areas such as education and maternal health, significant challenges remain, including data gaps, tokenism, and the absence of a gender perspective across all 17 SDGs. A comprehensive, intersectional approach is necessary to overcome these barriers and advance gender equality and inclusive SDG implementation.
