ABSTRACT

The chapter provides an overview of the book, summarising and synthesising the research findings and conclusions of the rest of the publication. It focuses on the definitions and data characteristics associated with widening access for mature students (WAMS), the challenges they face, and the opportunities that are open to them, especially where strategies and policies are well constructed and implemented, taking into account all key factors, and not least the particular needs of mature students from disadvantaged backgrounds and underrepresented groups.
