ABSTRACT
This chapter explores conflict research, which intersects multiple disciplines, methodologies, and focuses. This chapter introduces a model based on the refiguration of space approach to bring together these diverse approaches, illustrating how conflicts are shaped by and shape spatial figures. The analysis identifies conflictual spaces, where conflict is embedded in space, and spatial conflicts, where space and spatial logic itself is contested. It is also discussed how spatial arrangements aim to manage and contain conflict. Lastly, the chapter differentiates between latent and manifest conflict forms. Utilizing these two dimensions, we examine the complex interactions between space and conflict, drawing on empirical data from the Refiguration of Space Collaborative Research Center subproject.
