ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces a framework for understanding how research-practice partnerships (RPPs) navigate equity-focused work in education. Drawing on literature and the authors’ experiences leading RPP projects, the framework highlights five key elements of RPP project design: equitable relationships, shared language of equity, equity in project goals, equity in topic, and equity in method. The framework is presented as a response to the current sociopolitical context, where efforts to advance educational equity face increasing political resistance. The authors argue that the framework and accompanying case studies will serve as resources for current and future RPP leaders as they navigate the complexities of equity-focused research in the current climate.
