ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the joint construction of an equity-centered research agenda by practitioners and researchers in a young research practice partnership (RPP). Drawing on data from observations, interviews, process surveys, and artifacts of the group’s work, we describe how particular facilitation design features promoted the development of equitable relationships among participants, which in turn supported the co-construction of project goals, topic, and method. We then highlight the challenges to equitable relationships posed by the organizational and sociopolitical contexts in which the RPP was located.
