ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses privatisation as the outcome of a century-long struggle for the business interest in Sweden and argues that neoliberalisation can be understood as a push for a for-profit model based on shareholder value in privatised welfare services. It also argues that while privatisation has mainly taken place within the corporatist frame in the other Nordics, in Sweden a central purpose of privatisation was to break the business interest out of the model.
