ABSTRACT
This chapter considers the status of the conflicts to which the book has devoted most attention – Hamas–Israel and Ukraine–Russia conflicts – and reflects on their future directions. We conclude that both of the conflicts are some distance away from any permanent resolution. That may mean that some of the solutions explored in the book may eventually prove useful. We also suggest that, despite its relative absence from recent international conflicts, the United Nations has a venerable track record with regard to the resolution of international conflicts, and we hope that current budget-cutting efforts driven by the US will not deprive the organization of its potential for contributing further to resolving and managing international conflicts. In all events, we hope the “humane values of Judaism”, invoked by one of the book's authors as a source of hope, will contribute to achieving equitable resolutions in both cases.
