ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the innate goodness of children and their natural inclination towards values such as goodness, beauty and truth. It argues that negative influences from adults and the modern world can distort this innate goodness, leading to tendencies towards conflict and negativity. By emphasising respectful upbringing that honours the specific developmental needs of young children, the chapter asserts that fostering an environment of respect can strengthen children’s natural inclination towards peace. Conversely, inappropriate adult behaviours like unhealthy competition, negative opinions, contempt, hatred, or stigmatising behaviours may foster attitudes that lead to conflicts in later life. The chapter aims to demonstrate that creating nurturing environments and employing appropriate methods are crucial strategies for promoting peaceful attitudes and beliefs in children, adolescents and adults.
