ABSTRACT

This chapter synthesizes common themes across the four districts, considerations on contextual differences, common leadership strategies to advance racial equity, and a discussion on how these lessons build on prior research. The lessons learned across these cases can help current and prospective leaders ask and answer the critical question, “what will it take to disrupt the patterns in my system that continue to fail students of color year after year?” The four cases in this volume offer four approaches to what it looks like when leaders dare to answer that question with their actions.
