ABSTRACT

This chapter examines how cutting-edge technologies like cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT) are being integrated to turn conventional colleges into smart colleges. The main goal is to comprehend the ways in which these technologies aid in the development of intelligent, effective, and sustainable learning environments. Using the Web of Science (WoS) database and the VOSviewer program, a bibliometric-analytic technique was used to analyze 626 open-access papers from 2020 to 2024. This chapter presents a new paradigm emphasizing sustainability and flexibility in the creation of smart campuses. It also presents a novel comparison between smart cities and smart campuses, showing the similarities and differences between the two. The results show that the idea of “Smart Universities” is gaining traction, as seen by the rise in the use of cloud computing, AI, and IoT in educational environments. The bibliometric analysis highlights the increasing interest in these technologies as well as the need for further study and useful tactics to realize the full potential of smart campuses. This chapter also highlights how important sustainability is and how these technological developments have a revolutionary effect on improving educational quality and advancing larger societal goals.
