ABSTRACT
This chapter examines how audio-visual methods and techniques developed in Latin America and Colombia can act as tools for transformation. While the previous chapter focused on audio-visual and participatory methodologies primarily from Western perspectives, epistemologies, and ontologies, this chapter shifts to explore the influence of Latin American audio-visual and filmmaking methodologies and their integration into the project. In particular, it highlights methodologies of community filmmaking, referred to as cine comunitario, which played a central role in shaping the participatory audio-visual approach developed and implemented in this project. This chapter places special emphasis on the history of film and community cinema, exploring how these audio-visual methods can be understood as tools for transformation within the Colombian context.
