ABSTRACT
Frontier research refers to those studies that identify, describe, or analyse scientific or technological knowledge that is at the limit of current knowledge and that, therefore, its results imply moving the existing frontier of knowledge. One way to conduct this type of frontier study is by adopting an interdisciplinary vision, considering how the knowledge of one discipline can relate to another, and broadening the horizon between both areas of knowledge. This chapter discusses the relevance of interdisciplinarity in frontier studies, proposing a model for its execution in educational innovation research. In conclusion, a concrete example of interdisciplinary frontier research is offered to serve as an example for readers.
