ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the potential of gamification as an innovative HR practice for managing technological stress. The term “gamification” is defined as the application of game elements in work contexts. The utilization of points, badges, and leader boards has been demonstrated to increase motivation and engagement, thereby reducing stress and improving performance (Jones et. al., 2016). Research has demonstrated that cooperative games have the capacity to enhance team cohesion by up to 20%. However, if implemented ineffectively, it has the potential to engender feelings of anxiety, foster excessive competition, and lead to feelings of alienation. The chapter underscores the significance of ethical design, the equilibrium between challenge and skills, and the utilization of Serious Games to cultivate resilience to technostress, thereby metamorphosing work into a more participatory and human experience.
